January 2013

After we returned from Missouri and settled back in (and all agreed that we needed a vacation to recover from our vacation), life trucked on as usual to begin the new year.

Below are the photos from the annual gingerbread house eating party around the Himstedt table. How old is that stuff, you ask? How disgusting, you think. "Old," is the answer to the first question, and "you're right," is the reply to the second comment.

It's so revolting that even the big people had to get in on it. (Hey look, there's a picture of our tree in the background!)

Sugar coma.

One day in early January Curtis and Bennett brought four wheelers over to ride.

People ask me how I remember what went on each month since so much time goes by between my blog posts. If it's on the camera, then I remember it.

Or if it's on somebody else's camera, I remember it. This blurry one reminded me that Amelia went to Maggie's spend the night party in honor of her 11th birthday.

Then there were days between weekends which were not photo worthy. I tend to get the camera out when we're doing more fun things on weekends.

Well, at least some of us are having fun anyway. Whenever we have Meg over the girls inevitably bust out the makeup to play "Face Off." They're practicing their movie make up skills.

Yikes.

Zombie island princess shipwreck survivor?

Victim of a pool party assualt?

Here's what Shannon likes to do while girls are playing in make up.

The weekend of January 26 we headed to Marietta for a 5K at Johnson Ferry Baptist, where Jonathan and Lisa go to church. I ran a decent race (for me), and had a good time. The oldest two ran with Dad and Jonathan, who was pushing a stroller full of girls.

After race entertainment, courtesy of Grandad.

When we finished the race we all went to Jonathan and Lisa's to finally have Christmas together. Yes, on the 26th.

Yes, they left their tree up for the occasion.

Brynn sure is getting cute.

Let the presents begin!

Beyblades!

Mom was surprised by the photos we had taken back in October for her.

It was a fun day spent with folks we love. Prolonging Christmas festivities isn't a bad way to go. The fact that we had to do it on January 26 is testimony to the fact that we're probably all way too busy though!

Just a few days later we celebrated James' (ahem) 39th birthday. We went to the outlet mall in Dawsonville so he could be measured for a tux for our friend Matt's wedding in March, then to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner.

There was a shower of handmade cards for Daddy.

And one from me.

We had dessert at home. In lieu of a birthday cake we had gluten-free chocolate cupcakes.

Happy birthday, dear Daddy, happy birthday to you!

Now spit on the cupcake! Daddy, we love you very much, and wish you a very happy 39th year!

And before we knew it, it was February. It will be fun to see what's on the camera from that month. It's currently September...and I am on vacation this week. With any luck at all I'll be able to crank out a few months more on this thing. Right now I need to go bike ride with Shannon and swim with the others. It's a real chore, but somebody has to do it. I'll be okay.
